The Virginia General Assembly recently passed legislation that may alter the status quo for Virginia employers.

- Virginia Values Act – expands upon the Virginia Human Rights Act (VHRA) to include protections for sexual orientation and gender identity.
- Wage theft law – creates a private cause of action for employees to recover unpaid wages, with possible 3X damages.
- Whistleblower statute – private right of action for employees against retaliation for complaining to management.
- Restrictive covenant law – prohibits restrictive covenants for lower-paid employees.
