SHRM has awarded the 2024 PLATINUM Excel Award to SHRM Virginia & DC in recognition of its exceptional work and accomplishments in 2024! This award celebrates the State Council’s strategic initiatives, innovative programming, and unwavering commitment to elevating the HR profession and improving workplaces across the region.
The Excel Award—given at the Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum levels—is a symbol of excellence in chapter and state council leadership. Honorees are recognized for activities that align with SHRM’s mission to empower people and workplaces by advancing human resource practices and maximizing human potential.

In 2024, SHRM Virginia & DC led several impactful initiatives with an enhanced focus on membership, engagement, and education around dual membership. At their annual leadership conference, the state council formed cross-functional strategic workgroups in four key areas and created two new volunteer leadership awards to encourage and reward engagement. Additional focus was placed on the sharing of best practices, facilitating open dialogue and idea-sharing around the state and across functional areas. In addition, SHRM Virginia & DC was recognized as a Top 5 contributor to the SHRM Foundation in 2024, further demonstrating its members’ commitment to the growth and development of human resources professionals and orgnaizations across Virginia and the DC Metro area.
