More commonly, these accounts are known as in-plan or ERISA-bound sidecar accounts to a 401(k) or similar retirement plan – and 45% of plan sponsors are expected to add some form of emergency savings feature by end of 2024. The Department of Labor and the IRS recently released guidance on how these PLESAs would and should work. In this session, you will learn about PLESAs and their out-of-plan emergency savings counterparts, associated regulatory and tax benefits, and impact to employer and employee based on results from early adopters.
