Professional presence is the combination of confidence, authenticity, positive body language, vocal management, and empathy. It’s your ‘stage presence’ and affects how others perceive you.
As HR professionals, we wear several different hats when it comes to professional presence in the workplace. First, we must exhibit our own professional presence when dealing with employees at all levels in our organization. We also must be able to provide guidance to our executives and managers to ensure they exhibit professional presence to ensure they are building and maintaining trusting relationships with their teams. Lastly, we must write and enforce dress code policies for our organizations.
