Journey to Certification: Let’s Talk Scholarships! Part Three

Part 3

Continuing our exploration of the transformative impact of the HR Virginia Scholarship Program, we delve deeper into the stories of three remarkable individuals who were recipients of the 2023 scholarship. Anastasia Mizitova, HRVA Certification Director, sat down with Amy F. Painter, Ed.D., Chief Human Resources Officer at Rockingham County Public Schools, Jennifer Chan, HR Operations Analyst at Dynamic Aviation and Bridgewater College SHRM President, and Casey Northrop, Employee Experience Specialist at Farm Credit of the Virginias. Together, they share their insights and experiences, offering valuable perspectives on the profound influence of the scholarship on their professional journeys. Join us in this final episode as we conclude their stories and reflect on the enduring impact of the HRVA Scholarship Program.

AM: How did this Scholarship Impact You?

  • Amy F. Painter: Receiving the scholarship provided me with opportunities to attend conferences and engage more actively with my local SHRM chapter. Academically, it facilitated access to resources and opportunities, enhancing my learning journey in human resource management.
  • Jennifer Chan: The scholarship enabled me to focus on my academic pursuits without the burden of working extra hours. It made a significant impact on my life and academic journey, allowing me to give back to the HR VA community.
  • Casey Northrop: This scholarship was a huge blessing for me. The decision to go back to school to get my masters was not an easy one. In addition to the time commitment I knew I would have to make, there was also the financial impact. I have worked really hard this year to pay off my student loan before I graduate and this scholarship really helped me along that path. Not having to worry as much about the financial aspect has helped me to focus on my grades and education. I am proud to say that I have had straight A’s in all my classes thus far! Lastly, this scholarship made me feel very accomplished. It was an honor to be selected and that boosted my confidence on this entire journey!
